Governance

CMINEN will be established as a foundation (stichting) under Dutch law. The three
founding partners of CMINEN (RUG/UMCG, UT and Siemens NL ) will be represented in
this foundation, in accordance with NWO guidelines and subject to approval by NWO and
the relevant regulatory bodies. CMINEN has a simple organizational structure to ensure
proper governance, efficient decision-making and minimal overhead. The governance
structure is presented in the figure below.

Supervisory Board

The Supervisory Board will be CMINEN’s highest governing body and is formed by
the three founding partners. The Supervisory Board is responsible for developing
CMINEN’s strategy, decides on the budget and bears responsibility for the annual report. It determines which corporate partners will participate in CMINEN.

Members of the Supervisory Board are:

Prof. Dr. L.F.M.H. de Leij on behalf of RUG/UMCG

Prof. Dr. G.P. Vooijs on behalf of UTwente

Drs. A.F. van der Touw on behalf of Siemens

Board of Directors

CMINEN’s Board of Directors (clinical and technical scientific director and two managing directors) will manage the day-to-day operations. It will coordinate the research-project groups, monitor their progress and report to the Supervisory Board four times a year. The Board of Directors is responsible for managing CMINEN’s resources. It will control CMINEN’s budget, ensure that project groups have access to the infrastructure and other facilities, and take care of marketing and PR.

Members of the Board of Directors are:

Prof. Dr. M. Oudkerk, Medical Scientific Leader (UMCG)

Prof. Dr. V. Subramaniam, Technical Scientific Leader (UTwente)

Dr. Ir. M. Kuit, Managing Director on behalf of UTwente

Drs. A.J. Kee, Managing Director on behalf of UMCG

Ir. R. Burie, Manager on behalf of UTwente

Drs. E. Jippes, Manager on behalf of UMCG

Dr. E.J.K. Noach, Secretary

Research Committee

The Research Committee is responsible for the design of the CMINEN research programme. The committee will evaluate the research topics proposed by leaders of the CMINEN disciplines of the CMINEN Clinical Advisory Committee on relevance to CMINEN’s strategic goals (criteria include clinical demand, epidemiological soundness, scientific relevance, and time tot translational impact). The Research Committee can propose changes to the research project’s approach in consultation with the CMINEN Clinical Advisory Committee. The Research Committee will also maintain relations with in- and external reviewers, who will be asked to review submitted research proposals for quality and relevance to the development of the project groups. If relevant, new research proposals will be reinforced with solid business cases that confirm clinical and economic values.

Members of the Research Committee are:

Prof. Dr. C.F. Beckmann, Professor Analysis Methods for Neuroscience, UTwente

Prof. Dr. R.A. Dierckx, Professor of Nuclear Medicine, RUG/UMCG

Prof. Dr. M. Oudkerk, Professor of Radiology, RUG/UMCG

Prof. Dr. M. Prokop, Professor of Radiology, UMCN

Prof. Dr. V. Subramaniam, Professor of Nanophysics, UTwente

Discipline group leaders

The leaders of the CMINEN disciplines have extensive experience in various disciplines of medical imaging. They are able to assess whether the research topics proposed include the right medical imaging technologies or the right combination of technologies to achieve the desired results. Health impact modelling, which measures economic and clinical relevance, will support the evaluation of the research proposals.
